At Password Sentinel, we believe privacy is a fundamental human right. Our extension is designed with a "Local-First" architecture, meaning all data processing happens on your device, not on our servers.

📊 What We DO NOT Collect

To be perfectly clear, we never have access to:

  • Never Your passwords (neither analyzed nor generated).
  • Never Your browsing history.
  • Never Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

🌐 External Services (API)

We use the "Have I Been Pwned" API exclusively for data breach detection. To ensure your anonymity:

  • Protected We use k-anonymity.
  • Partial Hash We only send the first 5 characters of your password's SHA-1 hash.
  • Anonymous It is mathematically impossible to reverse this hash to get your original password.

💾 Local Storage

The extension uses chrome.storage.local solely to save your user preferences (like dark mode or default length settings). This data never leaves your Chrome browser.
